Charlene Payette ~ Arriving May 2025

My path to midwifery began before the birth of my son in 2021. I was already drawn to the idea of supporting families through pregnancy and birth, but it wasn’t until I experienced midwifery care for myself that I realized how profoundly this work could impact lives. Throughout my own pregnancy and birth experience, I felt deeply supported, heard, and cared for. That inspired me to pursue a career as a midwife—to help others feel that same sense of empowerment and support during one of the most transformative times in their lives.

I am excited to begin my first clinical placement in midwifery education at Norfolk Roots Midwives, and I am truly honoured to be joining families on their pregnancy journeys. I know that each pregnancy, birth, and family is unique, and I am committed to providing individualized care that reflects the needs, hopes, and values of those I work with.

Before entering midwifery, I spent several years building props and sets in the theatre, where I developed a love for creative problem-solving and a cheery, positive attitude that I bring into every aspect of my life. I believe in the power of a good laugh, a calm presence, and thinking outside the box, whether it’s finding solutions in a busy birth room or supporting a family in navigating their pregnancy journey.

I look forward to supporting and empowering families as they move through this meaningful and exciting time, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their experience.
